Waiters seem to be busy running around everywhere with huge plates piled high with barbequed meat, golden Central Asian fabrics, lamps and carpets are dripping off every available surface and sometimes there’s even live dancing – the Eastern Fairytale boat certainly doesn’t lack in atmosphere. The menu looks like a dictionary of Caucasian/Uzbek food, making arriving with a large group particularly enjoyable. Pick and mix some of the 30 odd varieties of shashlik with piles of green herbs, spicy cold starters and if it’s a special occasion ordering the massive spice filled plov (pilau) is certainly a good idea. Even with all that, you still will have tasted only a fraction of what’s on offer. It’s phenomenal popularity with the local Azeri community you can take as a golden seal of approval.
