Moscow is a vast city with a lot of history, which can be a little overwhelming! Going on a city tour not only gives you an insight into the city, but also a bit of history, and learn more about orientating yourself in the city. There are many options for touring the city, including by bus, by foot, or by boat.
Th Free Moscow Free Tour (www.moscowfreetour.com) are run by English-speaking guides, and allow you to relax while touring around the highlights of the city. It’s all free, and even includes a free cup of coffee or "kvas" and free wi-fi on the bus!
You can take a city boat tour for an hour and a half along the Moscow River, which allows you to see all the main Moscow sights. If you buy a full-day pass, you can get on and off as many times as you like at the different stops en route.
Another water tour is the Flotilla Radisson Royal Moscow (www.radisson-cruise.ru), which are huge yachts equipped with ice-breaking technology, meaning that they are the only river cruisers to run all year round. The journey takes two and a half hours, and takes you past the famous landmarks.
If you’d rather keep your feet on dry land, there are many options for walking tours! Contact the Moscow City Guide for bespoke group tours, or interpreters. Some popular tours include The Mysteries of Moscow, and Royal Estates. They can also organise mini-buses and smaller cars. Moscow Mania is run by English-speaking history scholars who aim to put history in context. They offer more than 50 types of historical tours, including Stalin in Moscow, and Moscow ghost stories. You can either join a regularly organised tour or create your own. The Patriarshy Dom Tours offers a varied programme of tours around the city.
