All hail the Bolshoi. Hardly needing any introduction, we'll give it one anyway. Russia's best known theatre without a doubt, this is the sacred home of ballet and opera in the capital. Built in 1824, the Bolshoi is currently undergoing renovation and is scheduled to reopen on October 02 2011 with a premiere opening performance of Glinka's Ruslan and Ludmilla. The Bolshoi troupe currently performs in the New Bolshoi Theatre which is right next to the original building.
