Simply styled to reflect the stereotypes of Italy (jars of condiments and olives here, an Italian meat and cheese case there), it’s the tables full of noisy dinners that really make up the unpretentious atmosphere. The simple menu tends towards pastas and risottos in marathon-runner-sized portions, and the dishes pop with garlic and the sauces are infused to bursting point with tomato, chili and basil. Whenever we finish dining here, we're always tempted to do it all again immediately but can never find the space for even a tenth. Dishes can also be ordered in smaller portions for kids or perhaps for those on a diet. A second Marcelli's has now opened at Leninsky pr. 120, where they also sell pizza. In addition they have a deli counter which is good if you are waiting for the bus to Peterhof and want to stock up on picnic supplies.
