This cosy Irish pub opposite the Mariinsky Theatre has a great atmosphere, 13 types of beer and seriously good food. Sometimes dancers of the Mariinsky come here incognito for a drink after their performance. Otherwise the pleasant companionship of Russians and expats creates an enjoyable and unpredictable evening. Hear traditional live Irish music on Wednesday and on Sunday night various folk musicians meet up for a jam session. The Shamrock also shows international sport events on 3 big screens, including English Premiership football, American NFL, rugby and local sport favourites Zenit and SKA. We visited this pub for the first time in 1995 and still do - doesn’t that say enough?

Ten days in Russia and Shamrocks was my best experience. Some might think that is a foolish statement. But any time people that you don't know greet you with open arms and treat you like family, it's remarkable. I have spent the last 15 years of my life working, running and now owning bars in NY and SF and Tommy at Shamrocks in St. Petersburg was the best host I have ever had. If you find yourself in there and feel the need for a small taste of the kind of hospitality that we take for granted in the USA stop by and say HI. Have a shot of Honey Pepper Vodka and settle in for a day or two and tell Tommy, Colin and Yuri that Aces in SF sent you.
The Shamrock is the greatest hang out in St. Petersburg. It is partly owned by an American. It is a great place for a beer and have an excellent menu. Great before or after dinner hang out. Том Всего вам доброго
