Established by the world famous director of the Mariinsky Valery Gergiev in 1993, this annual festival is one of the most famous highlights of the St. Petersburg cultural calendar. Over the course of eight weeks the festival features over 90 opera and ballet performances, symphony and chamber concerts and solo performances by international stars. Famous names such as David Geringas, Nathalie Dessay, Leonidas Kavakos, Hélène Grimaud and Gustavo Dudamel are just a fraction of the long list of big names involved which even include John Malkovich acting in a ‘mono-performance of The Infernal Comedy.
