Botanical Garden
The Botanical Gardens are a gardeners paradise and a perfect place to spend a few relaxing hours.  The contemplative statue of Lenin fits in perfectly with the mood of the set up. Set amidst a large acreage to the north of the city centre, there's enough here to keep wanderers and green thumbs amused for ages. In parts, messy and overgrown, it seems frozen in time which makes it even more charming.

Moskovsky Park Pobedy (Moscow Victory Park) is full of life. On the southern side, there is a small cafe which has drinks and hot snacks. Park Pobedy is a beautiful, quiet, large park, where students drink beer, families walk and pensioners sit on benches. Besides a childrens play park it has a Walk of Fame, where you can find statues of Russian WWII heroes. There are also some water attractions available, with water bikes and boats in the summer. The lakes are small though and the equipment doesn't always look trustworthy, but if you can swim... in summer terraces, beer and shasliki are available.

Tsar Peter the Great created the Summer Garden, surrounded by beautiful iron fences, in 1704. Most of the trees and all 250 statues were imported from Italy. For a century, it was the exclusive domain of people of the highest rank. Tsar Nicholas I opened it up to ‘well-dressed people,’ but these days they don't care what you wear.  These statues have seen it all.  There's a display of twelve funky handturned iron chairs positioned in a circle, each one made by different blacksmiths.

Half-naked people like to enjoy the sun in the Tavrichesky Garden. This is the park for ordinary people to come and take a short stroll, and fitness freaks go jogging. Once it belonged to Grigory Potemkin, the favourite lover of Catherine the Great. Red Mountain, the raised terrace and cafe, is mar [...]

A wonderful little imperial garden that’s a perfect place to take a picnic made up from items bought from the nearby Sennoi market. You may notice some signs telling you that you can’t sit on the grass, but you can ignore that rule like everyone else here and sprawl out on the lawn to c [...]
