I lived at Fontanka 50 for the two years I worked in St. Petersburg. This restaurant was initially my "fall back" restaurant when I would come home from work and didn't feel like cooking. At first the food was pretty good value for money, but one night in 2006 I went there and for about $80 US I got a dead fish on a plate, some soggy fried potatoes, green beans from a can and two glasses of wine as the service was slow that night. I wondered if they had a new, inferior chef, and I never went back. Not only that, the restaurant at the time illegally tapped into the building's main electrical input, sometimes causing brownouts in the rest of the building (and my apartment). Despite all this, the service was always top-notch and the waiters and waitresses would often speak to me in very good English even though I speak fluent Russian. I would go and check out the food again, as if nothing has changed from 2006, this restaurant is not worthy of glowing reviews. At least the food isn't.Letitia Rydjeski
