Aspergeboerderij Ter Stege

  Venstraat 4b, Sint-Michielsgestel      (+31) 735 51 21 84     more than a year ago
Generations of this family have been growing the white gold otherwise known as asparagus on the the Ter Stege farm since 1949. Cultivating this delicious vegetable is a laborious business and it takes two years before planted seeds yield results. After 10 years the farmer has to use a different parcel of land or the soil will suffer from asparagus fatigue. From the outdoor café you can enjoy the rural landscape and taste the fruit of their labour. If you've got plenty of time, you can literally watch the asparagus grow as they can sprout no less than 12cm on a sunny summer's day!

Thanks for this entertaining story. The family who runs this business doesn't speak very good English but their genuine hospitality makes up for it. And sometimes you don't need words passion for your work is enough! Our family loved this tour.
