Welcome to Niš!

Welcome to Niš!
Regardless of clichés, we can confidently say that there has never been a better time to visit Niš, other than when Constantine the Great was alive of course. Serbia having been granted visa-free travel within the Schengen zone, in December 2009, the mass movement of people looks imminent. As the Serbs joyously savour the prospect of European travel, the budget airlines move in. With the advent of affordable connections out of Niš, inevitably come the inexpensive connections in. Thus the city can undoubtedly expect many more tourists in the immediate future, and realistically envisage a lot of change in the next 10 to 20 years, most of it positive.

Serious travellers should see Niš sooner rather than later, while the influence of the former Yugoslavia is still visible all around. Having said that, Niš does have its fair share of new and modern venues, namely hotels, restaurants and cafés, clubs and shopping centres.

A city with a rich history, dynamic culture and environmentally rich surrounding landscape - Niš is brimming with opportunities for visitors. At the turn of a new decade there remains enough undeveloped charm to intrigue, yet an ample amount of modern comfort to please most guests. добро дошли - dobro došli - Welcome!
