The Odbrana Media Centre is a specialized institution within the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Defence, and is the bearer of the information and publishing activities in the defense system. It is located in the building of the SAF Central Military Club, which was designed by prominent architects Zivko Piperski and Jovan Jovanovic, and built from 1929 to 1931. By the decision of the City Council of Belgrade the building was placed under state protection and was proclaimed as a cultural heritage site.
The centre's exhibition space includes a large and a small gallery in the House of the Serbian Army. The Great Gallery has been open since 1945, and over the decades has organised several hundred exhibitions of prominent national and international artists. The Small Gallery has only been opened occasionally in the lobby of the MediaCentre, but it recently received modern renovations and will now welcome visitors on a permanent basis.
