Park of Pioneers

Opened to public in 1944, it was once a palace garden. The park is laid out between the Old Palace and the New Palace, the Old Palace being the residence of Obrenović royal line, the present City Hall, completed in 1884. It was demolished during both world wars and post-war renovations changed its design considerably. The New Palace, a residence of Karađorđević dynasty, was completed in 1921 and today it houses the official seat of the President of Serbia. The park features an observation post of the HQ of the Serbian Army from the time of WW1, relocated from the Salonica Front.
