Danube Day is an integral part of the cooperation of the Danube countries, and is celebrated in all thirteen states party to the International Convention for the Protection of the Danube in order to raise awareness about the need to preserve the river for as many citizens as well asto be appealed to the rational use of water resources. Celebration of Danube Day combines 80 million inhabitants of the Danube basin countries, different cultures, lifestyles and understanding of the river.
