Gay & Lesbian Ljubljana
Ljubljana was at the forefront of the gay and lesbian movement in Eastern Europe during the mid-1980s, and since then has maintained an active GLBT community with many well-organised groups promoting gay rights and culture. Last year marked the official 25th anniversary of the movement in Slovenia, and saw some important events, including the opening of the Q Cultural Centre back in the spring and an especially active Pride week during the summer. However, it would be a stretch to call Ljubljana a gay-friendly city - perhaps gay-ambivalent would be more apropos - as incidents of discrimination and even outright violence are not unheard of.
View all of Ljubljana's gay and lesbian cafés, clubs, saunas and more (as well as gay-friendly locations from different sections of the guide) on one convenient map.
