Not all Slovenians love horsemeat. It is not a traditional choice of meat, in fact it only recently became a trend due to tireless advertisement. I has been frowned upon for centuries (a horse was considered a noble creature) but became more widely consumed after ww2 as a result of food shortage, especially in larger cities (Ljubljana). Unfortunately it became a tourist attraction.

Nine years of visiting Ljubljana and still no horse burger . In the Uk we get horsemeat in hamburgers but we don't know which ones so it's a bit like horse burger roulette. Going to be in Ljubljana again at the beginning of February - will this be the time we finally try a Hot Horse? I hope so!
