Although they tolerate neither dogs nor rollerskaters, the good people of Gostilna Šestica have at least provided a convivial and superior atmosphere in which to tuck into a wide range of excellent Slovenian dishes. The so-called ‘old lady with the eternally youthful face’ was once a stagecoach house, and is now divided into a stylish restaurant complete with orangerie and smaller rooms for private dining. The menu offers not only Slovenian classics but also a few international dishes as well as a good value business lunch.

  We went for the traditional folk show evening. Overpriced a bit at 35 Euros but it included wine. The meal is a big one (albeit a tasty one) so your waistline will also be stretched! It was an enjoyable evening however. The show is a bit touristy but worth it for an night of fun. A local winery even gave us a free tasting.
