International Human Rights Day 2010

The Human Rights Day in Ljubljana will be marked with the opening of a Humanitarian Art Exhibition celebrating the special cooperation between two Slovene Non-Governmental Organisations: Novi Paradoks and Notranjski Regijski Park.

Novi Paradoks provides support for people with mental health problems in Slovenia, and offering them residential accommodation and special care. Novi Paradoks have recently opened DNP Eko Farm Topol in the Notranjski Regijski Park, which is located in the area of the Municipality of Cerknica. The organisation was established in order to preserve, protect, and explore the natural and cultural heritage of this area, and a large part of the park is included in the European Network of Special Protected Areas, or the Natura 2000 sites.

Sonja Škrabec Štefančič as coordinator of exhibition, Dr. Borut J. Sommeregger and Valentin Schein, are the organisers of the project and leading persons of the two organisations involved. During the Human Rights Day event, they will present how their cooperation works through the art in practice.

rogram will start with words of Srečko Brumen, Novi Paradoks, Marjeta Ferlan Istinič from the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs and Jani Möderndorfer, Deputy Mayor of Ljubljana.The opening ceremony of this unique social-eco-art exhibition will be held on Friday, 10 December, at 9:30, at Klub Prešerne Zdravljice Humanitarius,  Župančičeva 9, Ljubljana.
