Tbilisi sits in a river valley, surrounded by hills and mountains. There are so many beautiful views of the city, each time you see a new one you think it might just be better than the last. Narikala Fortress and Mother Georgia, Mtatsminda Mountain and from Metekhi Church, all have stunning vistas. Taking the cable car or funicular up, or just walk, and you will be rewarded with a panoramic perspective that also provides fantastic way to orientate yourself. There are many sights in the city and we have listed many of them for you, but one of the best ways to appreciate Tbilisi is just to wander its streets, particularly in the Old Town and Avlabari. Move away from arguably over-renovated areas and into the warren of backstreets. The buildings may be ramshackle and tired, but they are beautiful and real. This is Tbilisi’s heart and soul. Get yourself lost here for a while.
