Albania's national zoological collection has over 100 thousand specimens from the countries' rich flora and fauna, some dating back to 1900, of which some 3000 are on display in this museum just east of the centre. These include the skeleton of an unfortunate whale that stranded on Albania's shore, stuffed Dalmatian pelicans and colourful butterfly specimens. Some interesting exhibits arrived here as gifts or purchases from befriended communist nations.
