Olympic Stadium in Kyiv, Ukraine
Kyiv’s always magnificent Olympic Stadium (so-called because the final of the Olympic Games football tournament was played here in 1980) has been totally rebuilt and is now one of the world’s greatest arenas. With an enviable address just minutes from the many bars and pubs of central Kyiv, it could well be the preferred choice of many football fans when it comes to nominating the best stadium of the tournament. Kyiv itself is a splendid city far better prepared for visitors than many people give it credit for. All those travelling to the city for the European Championship will be made to feel very welcome indeed.

Known as the centre of Ukrainian art and culture, Lviv boasts many of the country’s brightest and best museums, art galleries and theatres. It is also Ukraine’s Bible belt buckle - there are magnificent and inspiring churches and cathedrals on just about every corner. Although Lvivians have the reputation as church-goers, they haven’t forgotten how to party. Pubs, clubs, restaurants and coffee houses are plentiful and it’s usually a local who’s stoking the celebration into the early morning hours.
