The museum is located in the space formerly occupied by the Lavra typography, which was built in the 18th century. The collection includes manuscript volumes from the times of Kyivan Rus, the first Ukrainian printed editions of the Lviv ’Apostle’ (1574) by Ivan Fedorov (Ukraine’s first printer), the ’Ostroh Bible’ as well as fine examples of old Ukrainian book illustrations and many other rare exhibits.
