Kyiv In Your Pocket
Kyiv In Your Pocket recently intercepted a letter written by a five-year-old Kyivite addressed to Did Moroz (Santa-Clause). It read:
Dear Did Moroz,
All I want for Christmas/New Year is my two front teeth, a transparent government and a stable economy/hryvnia.
Regards,
Andrii
We were so impressed by this youngster’s wishes that we changed the envelope’s return address in order to receive Did Moroz’s response here at the office. It read:
Dear Andrii,
I regret to inform you that you live in Ukraine. Unfortunately, the hryvnia has dropped to an all time low to the dollar, your government officials have turned Verhovna Rada (Parliament) into a boxing ring and your economy is in shatters. Sadly, I had all of my money invested in a US company called Citibank, which recently lost 90% of its value. Sorry to say, I can only afford one of your locally produced goods. Please choose from the following gift options:
- unwanted steel from the East
- an overpriced Daewoo from Zaporizhzhia
- a useless souvenir from the Carpathian region
- a bottle of vodka
I apologize for these difficult times, my dear Andrii, but keep your chin up. Your people have suffered far worse and have always risen from the ashes stronger and prouder. There are better times ahead.
Yours truly,
Did Moroz
