Teschin Mist

Mystetstv bul’v.     more than a year ago
This is one of the longest bridges in Odesa. Legend has it that a high-ranking official commissioned the bridge in order to be closer to his mother-in-law’s scrumptious dumplings. Anyone with a Ukrainian mother-in-law will see right through this lie. In spite of the delicious home cooking, most son-in-laws dream in vain of keeping mom out, perhaps with prison style walls and razor wire or, better yet, a couple hungry Dobermans on patrol in the yard in case mom decides to drop in for another unscheduled visit. A local newlywed superstition requires that the happy couple secure a lock on the bridge’s steel railing and throw away the key. This will ensure a lasting marriage.
