Vienna In Your Pocket city guide

Summer kicks off properly in the first week of July with the huge Freihausviertel Festival, a three-day street party in the hip district just west of Karlsplatz, with food, beer, music, events and a children's programme. For a quieter time, head to Vienna's many museums and exhibitions have enough to offer to keep you busy for weeks. The summer heat can wear down the even most energetic of tourists, so be sure to chill out with a glass of beer or a good meal every now and then at one of Vienna's hotspots this hot summer. The tourism season is already in full swing, but you'll need to be quick to catch a regular classical concert before the summer break – see our events calendar for our suggestions.
