Schabowy Raz

  Babi Dół 28, Żukowo ,   Zukowo          (+48) 607 071 122     more than a year ago
Schabowy Raz, literally meaning 'pork chop once', in her reference to the times in the past when customers would have to collect their food from the counter of the ubiquitous Milk Bars. Another 'victim' of the Polish version of Hell's Kitchen, Schabowy Raz wear their inquisition by Polish celebrity chef, Magda Gessler, with pride. We didn't see this place before but we can definitely see Madame Gessler's touches both on the menu and in the decor. The building is another of these mock wooden mountain huts, but this is by far and way the most bright and airy we've ever been in. The light coloured woods and painted bench seating are really appealing but there's more reasons to visit than simply the decor. The menu is excellent and we've given a thorough test drive over a series of visits. The dishes are primarily Polish. with some Kashubian touches (try the potato and bacon starter with accompanying buttermilk) and all are beautifully presented and very tasty. To really enjoy the Schabowy Raz/Hell's Kitchen experience, chose from the Magda Gessler recommended list of dishes at the front including a krupnik soup and one of four disfferent sized pork chops with potato and cabbage. Delicious and worth making a reservation to void disappointment.
