The Fat Zebra

  71 7th St (cnr 3rd Ave), Linden      +27 82 469 5757     more than a year ago
With its monochromatic stripes and unforgettable name The Fat Zebra (its name a local play on Heston Blumenthal’s legendary Fat Duck in Bray) is earning its stripes as a destination café in the homely neighbourhood of Linden.

Breakfast is not just breakfast here – with real effort having gone into creating a superb range of choices that include co-owner Kev’s Tiger Oats, creamy, drizzled with honey, fruit and toasted almonds. There are buttermilk pancakes, and even mince on toast. The Babalaas breakfast comes with a shot glass of cream soda designed to cure even the weirdest of hangovers or create new reasons to feel unwell. Delicious salads, prego rolls, and crispy thin crust pizza from a wood-fired oven, plus burgers, a meaty tapas menu and a decent drinks selection make this a go-to lunchtime or evening stopover too.

Also has a branch in Parkhurst at 34 4th Avenue.
