Bulgaria is internationally renown for its puppet theatres. The State Puppet Theatre – Burgas is a professional theatre for children, founded in 1954 and one of the leading puppet theatres in the country. The company always maintains at least 20 productions and every season it produces 4 new ones and performs almost 300 times a season. The theatre has received many major national and international awards and tours regularly abroad.

In August, there are international open-air puppet theatre performances in English on the "Snail Stage" at the sea gardens - a wonderful outing for the whole family.
