Now in its third year, the cult Afropunk festival brings together a world-class line-up of the hottest names in black alternative music and is one of the most eagerly anticipated music festivals on the South African calendar. 

For many the chance to connect and engage with a like-minded alternative crowd is a major part of the attraction and dressing up in the most flamboyant African punk outfits you can imagine is all part of the joy of Afropunk, a festival that is all about celebrating Africa’s open-minded, non-conforming and unconventional communities. 

This year’s international headliners include Los Angeles’ neo-soul and alternative R&B superstars such as Solange Knowles, Masego, Miguel and Nao, while representing local talent are major local alternative, Gqom, Afro-psychedelic, house, rap and Afro-futurist performers such as Burna Boy, Sjava, Sho Madjozi, Busiswa and the Jazz Disciples.
