Belfast & Northern Ireland

Fun in the time of Corona

29 Jun 2020
As we continue to stare down the barrel of this dreadful pandemic, entrepreneurial entertainers are putting together a ream of events designed to lift our spirits and get everyone together in a safe, socially distanced way. Things are beginning to open up more but until they do, here are some al fresco highlights...

On Sat 13 and Sun 14 June, a brand new Drive-in cinema beneath the iconic Harland & Wolff cranes will be screening family classics including Back To The Future, Grease, Toy Story and Frozen 2 on one of the largest outdoor screens in Ireland. Tickets cost £30 per car with all profits going to Queen’s University of Belfast Foundation’s Rapid Response Innovation Fund whose current priority is life-changing research to rehabilitate survivors of COVID-19.

Also on Fri 12 and Sat 13 June, Let's Go Hydro, just south of Belfast, is hosting a drive-in cinema with Finding Nemo, Despicable Me, Dirty Dancing, Back to the Future, Jurassic Park and Superbad on the line-up. Tickets cost £24 per car with optional food packs available.

Irish country music heavyweights Derek Ryan, Marty Mone and Philomena Begley entertain the crowds at the Farmer's Bash Country Drive-In at the Ballymena Showgrounds on Fri 3 and Sat 4 July. Car and limited tractor spaces (yes, you read that right) available from £50.
