The exhibition celebrates 150 years since the birth of the founder of the Charles I National Museum , nicknamed, at the time, the Road Museum. The direct successor of this first national art museum is the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant, which, through this event, evokes and pays homage to the outstanding personality in the national culture of Alexandru Tzigara-Samurcaș .
The exhibition brings before the public objects representative of national art, collected from the field and photographed by Al himself. Tzigara-Samurcaș during his campaigns of ethnographic research, repertory and documentation of the objects that will make up the museum's heritage . A series of photographs presents images captured in the main exhibition of the Road Museum, as well as in the temporary, international exhibitions during his directorship. Along with representative pieces from the collections inherited by the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant from its founding father, are exhibited personal objects of Alexandru Tzigara-Samurcaș (in the collection of the Tudor and Maria Berza family), which complete the portrait of the one who was the founder of the Road Museum.
