Graphic art exhibition which focuses on architecture and the statements this makes, whether it is viewed from a political, economic or ecologic perspective. Regardless of what city may be involved, architecture is closely connected to their reconstruction. The exhibition comprises various types of prints by seven French-speaking Belgian artists – Pol Bury, François Schuiten, Luc Schuiten, Luc Van Malderen, Anne Dyckmans, Thierry Lenoir, Thierry Wesel. To them architecture is a means to bring order and harmony into a chaotic urban environment; theirs is a fairly strange visual journey inspired by the manner in which architecture facilitates both ‘construction’ and ‘deconstruction’.

Pol Bury juggles with architectural images by now well-known symbols typical of big metropolises, such as the Statue of Liberty or the Eiffel Tower; Luc Van Malderen’s balanced serigraphs play with the proportions of famous New-York buildings while speaking of order and stability. The changes underwent by a street tell a compelling story which humorously blends in past, present and future in Luc Schuiten’s series “Une rue de 1850 à 2150 / A Street from 1850 until 2150”, each of the seven prints synthetically addressing a 50-year period. A counterpoint to this series is the dark but utterly expressive social vision which meets onlookers in Thierry Lenoir’s prints.
