You will be spoiled for choice when it comes to varieties and flavours so do take advantage of what's on offer whenever you’re in the Cultural Capital. Here are our top picks with some of the best places for ice cream in Plovdiv...

1/ Gelateria Vivaldi
Gelateria Vivaldi is perhaps the best place in Plovdiv where you can eat real, Italian ice cream. Locals and tourists simply can’t get enough of this place and the amazing variety of flavours there. The creators behind this genuine, Italian gelato is Daniela Dimirova. A gelato masters with experience in Italy. Vivaldi specialises in creating quality, natural ice cream, free of preservatives, artificial colouringss as well as hydrogenated fats. All the ingredients are carefully chosen and of exceptional quality.  You can find Vivaldi along the main pedestrian street in the centre of Plovdiv.
Try some of their signature blends including their famous high-quality gorgonzola or ricotta cheese, mascarpone, honey and walnuts.

2/ Memo Sweet House
Memo Sweet House is yet another gem, located at the beginning of the main street, right next to the 'Tsar Simeon' Garden. The place has a really cosy overall atmosphere and is perfect for spending an afternoon there, enjoying ice cream alongside the modern decor. Memo is known for its amazing variety of ice cream flavours, handcrafted to perfection using the finest ingredients available on the market. Their signature ingredient is the homemade, full-fat milk which gives each ice cream a unique and rich flavour! The place also offers an incredible selection of other desserts and creams, including many Turkish classics.
What to try: Go for the cheesecake with blue cheese for a unique combination of flavours!

3/ Savini Gelato
This incredible gelato chain started up in Sofia and their success didn’t stop there. Savini’s third venue opened up Plovdiv not long ago and already has a loyal base of ice cream lovers who can’t get enough of their tasty creations! One thing you need to know about Savini is that they don’t shy away from experimenting with a large variety of flavours! You can taste real, quality gelato infused with unique flavours such as Bulgarian rose oil and lavender. All the ice creams are made on location, using only bio-ingredients and even their cones are made from scratch.
What to try: A real winner is their tiramisu ice cream. It’s created using only organic eggs, fresh Italian mascarpone cheese, organic sugar-free 'biscottes' dipped in Marsala wine and illy coffee. It’s both delicious and refreshing!

4/ Dolce Fellini Gelateria & Pasticceria
Handcrafted Gelato, made according to authentic Italian recipes. Dolce Fellini creates some of the finest ice creams in town, prepared according to original Italian recipes. What makes their flavours and blends exceptional is the broad variety of ingredients sourced from all over the world, in order to achieve that perfect taste. Dolce Felini likes to use the finest ingredients when crafting their ice creams. They get their chocolate from South America, their pistachios from Italy, vanilla beans from Madagascar and all kinds of amazing cheeses from all over Europe. The gelateria doesn't use any preservatives or artificial flavourings and they like to whip up a fresh batch each day.
What to try here: For total indulgence try the milk or dark chocolate blend, the strawberry cheesecake or the all-time classic pistachio (made with real Sicilian pistachios).

You can find Dolce Fellini in 3 different locations across Plovdiv. The most popular one is in the centre just opposite the restaurant Hemingway.

5/ Argento
Ready for some more amazing tastes? Argento is yet another spot located in the centre of Plovdiv where you can enjoy some delicious ice cream. The place takes a rather unconventional approach to how they make and store their ice cream. Instead of keeping it frozen, Argento prefers to store their gelato at a constant temperature of -14 degrees. This allows for the ice cream to be consumed in pretty much every season. Each batch lasts no more than 2-3 days.
What to try here? Locals and visitors all agree on  pistachio being one their best gelatos so do give it a try!

If you walk around the centre you'll come across plenty more places where you can enjoy a delicious ice cream! For the really serious 'sweet tooth' - keep an eye out for the cafes which not only offer tasty gelatos but also a great variety of cakes, sweets, baked goods and coffee.
