24 Hours in Cluj-Napoca
Is 24 hours enough time in Cluj? We don’t think there is a ‘NO’ strong enough, but beggars can’t be choosers and all that jazz. If you’re restricted to just 24 hours in Cluj-Napoca then it is best to make the most of it, no matter how tempting it might be to spend the entire day in Blend. Brews & Bites. You’ll get there in the evening, don’t worry.

MORNING.
Cluj is a pedestrian friendly city, so spend the morning strolling around the centre of the city, exploring the side streets that jut off of Bulevardul Eroilor 6, getting lost before finding your bearings all over again. Actually, wait, nip to Eggcetera for breakfast, you won’t regret it. The nearby Romanian Academic Library is one of the most aesthetically fascinating buildings in the city, and the area is full of magnificent churches and old architecture showing off the many periods of Cluj’s history. Stop for coffee on Union Square, where a number of cafes have plenty to offer, and be sure to sit outside in order to gaze up at St. Michael’s Church and the statue of Matthias Corvinus that stands in front.

AFTERNOON.
Head towards the river for lunch, stopping at romantic Rochelle for a perfect Wi-Fi-free meal before exploring the uber-romantic Fortress Hill (Cetățuia Park). You’ll need plenty of energy for the stroll, but the views of Cluj available truly are second to none. The idea that everyone has a love story up here is a bit over the top, but we’re not going to deny that we’ve dreamt of a scenario or two in this lush part of this most lush city. Head back down across the river to Central Park, continuing the verdant majesty and checking out the hyper-modern Cluj Arena while you’re at it.

NIGHT.
Let the evening begin! Head from the park and stop for one at Colin’s Gastro Pub, before continuing the walk out to the Ursus Brewery. If you’re after the best pint of Romanian lager in town, look no further. Strada Piezișă is nearby too, a big student street full of bars, pubs and clubs, with the aforementioned Blend. Brews & Bites standing out for us. It would be easy to spend all evening here working through the regional craft beers, but restrict yourself to two or three and have a hearty pub meal while you’re at it. Leave Strada Piezișă behind and head back to the centre, stopping to gaze at the twinkling lights of Strada Matei Corvin and the great man’s house before settling on Museum Square, sipping whiskey at Charlie Pub or wine at Bruno. And relax…
