Latvia's Covid-19 restrictions lifted

more than a year ago
Latvia declared a state of emergency for a second time in October 2021 to protect its citizens from Covid-19. For months, the nation imposed a whole slew of laws regulating where its citizens could congregate, if at all, and which businesses were allowed to operate. However, nearly all of these restrictions were finally lifted at the end of April 2022 and masks or vaccination certificates are no longer required at shops, restaurants, museums, etc. They are also no longer required when entering the country, but we do recommend you wear a mask when travelling by airplane or bus. The last vestige of these Covid-19 laws are a mask mandate on public transport throughout the nation, but this will also likely be rescinded soon.
If you test positive for the virus and have to remain in self-isolation, local delivery services Wolt and Bolt can bring lunch or dinner directly to your door (see our home delivery feature for more options). If you have acute Covid-19 symptoms call 113 for the paramedics. For more information about Covid-19 in English click here.
