Located in Tammsaare Park in the city centre, this memorial was completed to mark the 100th birthday of national author A.H. Tammsaare (1878-1940). The beloved author sits pensively on a bench overlooking what once was the New Market, a favourite place of Tammsaare's for people watching. The memorial was designed by sculptor Jaak Soans and architect Rein Luup.
