Each Spring a sea of purple petals from thousands of jacaranda trees blooms above Joburg's suburban streets. Westcliff and neighbouring Parktown have some very scenic jacaranda streets where the trees contrast beautifully and perched up at the top of it all is the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff, one of the most fabulous places to enjoy the view.

This jacaranda season The Westcliff's Flames restaurant presents a celebratory Jacaranda Picnic Lunch offer, an opulent spread of dainty High Tea sweet and savoury favourites, accompanied by the finest Ronnefeldt teas and all beautifully presented to enjoy while you marvel at the jacarandas.

Savoury treats include Chinese duck pancakes, asparagus, prosciutto and Belnori goats cheese tarts and smoked salmon and cucumber sandwiches. For the sweet tooth there's a beautiful spread of chocolate and mixed nut petit gâteaux, orange blossom water macarons, sweet buttermilk scones with rose butter, mascarpone cream and raspberry jam and decadent mini mango cheesecake tarts to name just a few.

You also have the option of making your jacaranda picnic spread even more luxurious with the addition of oysters (R230 for six pacific oysters), a South African cheese board (R205), Russian Cru caviar (served with blinis, starting from R995) and some of the finest vintage Champagnes available anywhere in the city.
