A self-proclaimed contemporary Noah’s Ark, Dortmund Zoo houses some 2,500 beasts of all shape and sizes from every corner of the globe. Like all German zoos they thankfully have enough money and brains to make life for the inmates as bearable as possible, and may even do some good by way of the educational and conservation projects they run.
