Glenshiel Christmas Fair

Heritage property Glenshiel opens its doors for the annual Glenshiel Christmas Fair, a fundraiser for the Order of St John's community health care projects. Admire the grand panelled rooms of this beautiful historic mansion, designed by Sir Herbert Baker in 1910, and walk the wonderful gardens that overlook Joburg’s oldest suburb. The views from up here on the top of the ridge are fantastic, especially at this time of year when the city's thousands of purple jacaranda trees are in full bloom.

The festive market focuses on artisanal, beautifully-made items featuring over 80 small businesses from the UK and Zimbabwe and across South Africa. Scarves, crafted bags, jewellery, clothing, and accessories are amongst the luxury goods available. Whether you're looking to bring some life into your home and office with beautiful linens, furniture and custom stationery, or get a head start on your Christmas to-do list there will be handcrafted Christmas treats from cookies to cakes and decorations. And it wouldn't be a fair without food, be sure to fill up on pizza, paella, paninis or try some authentic Greek and Argentinian cuisine. Of course, there are boutique wines and tasty food stalls making this a great summer weekend event, that's all in aid of a good cause.

Early birds will enjoy the Preview Evening on Wed, Oct 25 where you can shop while admiring the stars, enjoy live music and delicious food from the harvest table with two free drinks. Tickets for this are R400.
