The downstairs part of this museum includes a vaulted chapel from the original medieval palace. Gothic sculptures and medieval armour unearthed in recent decades are also displayed. On the first floor, the permanent exhibition Budapest in Modern Times takes visitors through the city's history, from the victorious siege against the Turks in 1686 through the collapse of communism in 1990.
