Leading South African artist William Kentridge opens up his Maboneng studio this evening for a discussion with British Academy Fellow and King's College London Professor Paul Gilroy, one of the foremost cultural and social theorists of our time.

In particular the pair will be talking about Kentridge's latest work The Head and the Load, which combines music, dance, film projections, mechanised sculptures and shadow play to tell the story of the millions of African porters and carriers who served the British, French and German forces during the First World War. The world premiere of this major new work will be staged in Tate Modern's Turbine Hall in July. Described by the Tate Modern as 'Kentridge's most ambitious work to date' the new work's premiere has been timed to coincide with the Word War I centenary.

Booking for this event is essential as space is limited. Book online at www.lessgoodidea.com.
