Art Eye Gallery

Previously based in Fourways in Sandton, in 2016 Art Eye Gallery moved to this inspiring space in the restored Ellis House near Ellis Park, occupying some 2000 square metres of the building's fifth floor.

A contemporary art gallery and an artist studio, Art Eye Gallery is also an experimental project space, hosting innovative and creative collaborations by artists from different fields of the African and South African art scene. The gallery's main exhibition hall AE The Launchpad offers a sensory experience with music and scented candles complementing the art on the walls while the adjoining AE Studio and AE Project spaces are used by resident and visiting artists. There's also plenty of space to sit and soak up the awesome views of the city and the constant presence of artists in the building makes for a particularly engaging space that goes beyond the usual confines of a gallery.

Art Eye Gallery shares a building with the contemporary gallery ROOM, whose emphasis is on mixed-media contemporary exhibitions by young South African artists, and with the beautiful gift store Piece@Ellis House making the building a downtown destination in its own right.
