A vital showcase of contemporary musical diversity and inventiveness, Blooming Sounds also aims to provide new avenues for emerging artists to gain wider exposure. If you are interested in discovering new South African sounds, you won't want to miss it!

Artists on the line-up

The six upcoming artists selected to perform at the first Blooming Sounds live stream were chosen by a jury of top African musicians and industry specialists. In particular the judges sought to select musicians to perform in this new showcase who show the incredible diversity of the new South African music scene.

Joining Stogie T and Zoë Modiga at Blooming Sounds are; soul-inspired singer, songwriter, DJ and producer Witney, multi-instrumentalist LaliBoi who has collaborated with renowned producer Spoek Mathambo to create a unique blend of hip-hop, jazz and traditional South African tribal music; Joburg-born Congolese artist Manu WorldStar, Zimbabwe-born neo-soul and Afro-pop vocalist Lolo Skai, Zambia-born alt-R&B and soul musician Moonga K and the inimitable genre-bending Umlilo whose boundary-pushing eclectic mix of kwaito, avant-garde and alt-pop has been described as ‘future kwaai’.
