Brutal Legacy

Brutal Legacy is a hard-hitting new play based on the memoir by the same name by former television anchor and radio personality Tracy Going. Tracy Going was a darling of South African daytime TV in the late 1990s but what many viewers did not know, until the truth of her ordeal came crashing into the public spotlight, was that Tracy was being violently abused at home by her partner. When the brutal truth about her relationship arrived in the public domain (after a bruised and battered Tracy walked into a local police station), it was followed by a harrowing two and a half year legal ordeal that left Tracy's career in tatters.

Tracy's story has been transformed into a play by Tracy herself together with an all-female team of major local theatre names; director Lesedi Job, actress Natasha Sutherland and Daphne Kuhn, with the hope that her story of triumph and renewal after the horror of domestic violence will also serve to empower, inspire and enlighten other survivors and maintain the momentum of the ongoing discussion in the country around women and child abuse.

No performances Sun, Mon. Performances on Sat at 18:00 and 20:15.
