Eastern Cape-born jazz musician and photographer Daniel Morolong first fell in love with photography as a street photographer, taking impromptu photographs of passers-by with his most popular photographs being of beach outings. Already a member of wildly-popular apartheid-era jazz band Havana Swingsters, Morolong also worked as a freelance photojournalist capturing the essence of East London’s social, sport and news scenes, in what would become the renowned Morolong Collection.
