For the first time ever this series of paintings by internationally acclaimed Ndebele artist Esther Mahlangu, created in collaboration with the late Nelson Mandela, goes on public display. The six works are prints of drawings created by Mandela and embellished with Mahlangu's distinctive Ndebele abstract style. In addition to the Mandela paintings, the exhibition also includes several other paintings created by Mahlangu.<br /> <br /> Esther Mahlangu’s iconic paintings use the traditional Ndebele art form, which she learnt from her mother and grandmother. Mahlangu is the first artist to transfer the traditional Ndebele style of mural painting to canvas and has also painted her geometric patterns onto other materials, most famously BMW cars.
