Following the hugely successful 2023 Latitudes Art Fair at Shepstone Gardens in May, the Latitudes team announced their latest venture – the Latitudes Centre for the Arts (LCA), “a physical, multi-purpose exhibition space in Johannesburg dedicated to the year-round promotion of artists and galleries on the continent.”
All That She Carried is the LCA’s debut exhibition in this new space. The group exhibition borrows its name from the title of Tiya Alicia Miles's New York Times bestseller and has two curatorial threads, namely Women in Progress and Women in Motion.
Participating artists are: Boemo Diale, Teresa Firmino, Hemali Khoosal, Madikotsi “Mummy” Khumalo, Lebogang Mabusela, Theresa-Anne Mackintosh, Turiya Magadlela, Tinyiko Makawakwa, Maja Maljevic, Yolanda Mazwana, Puleng Mongale, Nandipha Mtambo, Tyra Naidoo, Lerato Nkosi, Buqaqawuli Thamani Nobakada, Cinthia Sifa Mulanga, Lady Skollie, Mbali Tshabalala, Lucy Jane Turpin and Charity Vilakazi.
The exhibition opens on Thu, Aug 17 at 18:00 and will be live on Latitudes until Sat, Sep 23. RSVP to the opening here.
