This new group exhibition focuses on portraiture by fifteen historic and contemporary South African artists who grapple with ideas surrounding the self and the mental workings of the mind. Exploring the idea of portraiture as a tool for charting the psychological make-up of the human subject, the exhibition features work by contemporary artists including painters Georgina Gratrix and Kate Gottgens and photographer Musa M Nxumalo as well as mid-20th Century masters such as Gerard Sekoto, Peter Clarke and Alexis Preller.
