Emmy-Award winning director Rehad Desai's latest expose documentary film, How To Steal A Country comes to The Bioscope independent cinema this month. A thrilling encounter of how journalists unearthed mass corruption and abuse of power during the Jacob Zuma presidency, the film also probes the state of democracy and transparency in South Africa nearly two and a half decades after the end of apartheid.

When a group of journalists reveal major incidents of corruption at the heart of the South African government, they are repeatedly thwarted by a cabal of powerful state authorities and their reports labelled as "fake news". However, when a massive leak of documents and data lays bare the intricate and crooked scheme of so-called 'state capture' carried out by a family of private individuals, the Guptas, with the help of politicians, the nation comes together to force the Guptas out of South Africa and applies ever-increasing pressure to Zuma's presidency.
