Joburg Ballet is Johannesburg's professional ballet company. With a proud track record of developing young dancers from all backgrounds, it is well-known and loved for its modern approach to ballet classics. Their innovative productions aim to give the classics a unique South African flavour and inspire new young audiences who may not be familiar with this beautiful dance form.

The ballet company returns to the stage this autumn with Ballet and Beyond, a programme of four ballets featuring both classic works and brand new pieces. The programme includes highlights from Laurencia, a 1939 Soviet-era Russian classic, two new ballets, The Silent Wanderer and I Am Woman, commissioned from aspiring Joburg Ballet choreographers Mario Gaglione and Craig Pedro, and a world premiere, Grey, by international award-winning choreographer Corey Baker. 

Joining Joburg Ballet for the perfomance is celebrated South African pianist and composer Rocco de Villiers who will perform two piano interludes, including excerpts from his newly-composed dance score, One Foot in Front of the Other, that Joburg Ballet will be performing in full later in the year.
