Tucked away in the back of the exclusive Michelangelo's Towers Mall and just a hop, skip and a short ride up the lift from the towers entrance opposite the convention centre (get out at the second floor) this good-looking artisan bakery is a little off the usual path beaten by visitors to the city's biggest shopping destination. The look is classic, modern simplicity - all blonde wood, shiny white tiles, kettle lamps and a pop of colour from some gold mosaic. Plus a long wall of windows with a view to the street to remind you that you are in fact in the middle of Africa's business hub and not just another food court.
Whatever fine things you could think to make from a simple dough (banting devotees look away now) can be found on the dizzyingly long menu - sandwiches, pies, quiche, pastries, gourmet burgers, thin and crispy pizzas or a simple soup and a crusty roll. For the gluten averse there are also low-carb and gluten-free options, as well as a decent selection of salads. Breakfast is served all day, whilst if you want a sneaky craft beer on your lunch break there is a great selection of popular brands to choose from.
